Why is Epinephrine used for all Cardiac Arrests Arrythmias?
Epinephrine hydrochloride produces beneficial effects in patients during cardiac arrest, primarily because of its α-adrenergic receptor–stimulating properties. The adrenergic effects of epinephrine increase myocardial and cerebral blood flowÂ
It is an agonist at both beta- and alpha-adrenergic receptors. The alpha effects cause peripheral vasoconstriction, which in turn leads to increased blood flow in the central circulation, improving perfusion of the heart and brain during CPR.
