Course Description

Our EKG Technician Training School will prepare and authorize you to take the NHA (National Healthcareer Association) & NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing) National ECG/EKG Certification Examination.
You will become a Certified EKG Technician (CET)when you come into our facility on the scheduled date for the skills session review, followed by the national certification exam.

Heart rhythm recognition, interpretation and interventions

12 Lead EKG placement techniques, troubleshooting, interpretation
Inspect and calculate the waveforms of a cardiac cycle for symmetry, direction, amplitude, rhythm and rate
Students will perform a minimum of 10 hands-on live EKG procedures

Prerequisite

High School Diploma or equivalent.
For the Self-Paced Online Course with One-Day Skills Session, students must be licensed healthcare professionals (any profession) OR be currently in a healthcare profession program (e.g., EMT program, nursing school, etc.) OR be a current college student (regardless of major) with stong study skills and the ability to study independently.
If you do not meet the above requirement, you are welcome to attend one of the following courses, with instruction provided by the instructor:

FAQ

Why is it that other programs giving the same certification are longer than your course?

The NHA (National Healthcareer Association) does not have a set minimum number of hours for EKG Technician programs. However, individual training centers can establish their own minimum hour requirements based on their curriculum.

At our center, we require online pre-course work to be completed before the in-person class. This allows students to learn much of the foundational material ahead of time, before the one-day class for review, hands-on skills, and testing. As a result, our program’s total in-person hours are shorter compared to others but still provide all the necessary knowledge and hands-on skills required to succeed.

We provide a very helpful study guide and an excellent online course and require students to spend 10-20 hours online preparing before coming into our facility for skills practice, review, and the national exam. Upon enrollment, you will receive access to the online study account, which includes a study guide, reference material, videos, practice quizzes, and practice tests. See below for more details.

How do you have the highest national exam pass rate if your course is shorter than the same course I’ve seen on other company websites?

Students are required to engage in preparatory activities before the class begins. Upon enrollment, you will be granted access to an online study account comprising a comprehensive study guide, proprietary reference materials we have created and refined over the years, instructional videos, practice quizzes, a glossary, and tests. These resources are designed to facilitate your preparation and ensure a thorough understanding of the course material.

I don’t have a medical background. Have you had students with the no clinical knowledge or experience who succeeded in the program?

The program is designed for those without any medical background. We’ve had students from a wide variety of backgrounds pass the exam, become nationally certified EKG Technicians, and succeed in their new career – such as waiters, personal trainers, hospital housekeepers, an airline pilot and a casino card dealer.

However, that said, still, this is an accelerated course that requires hard work and motivation from each student to ensure their success with the program.

After taking your course, can I take the CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) national certification exam?

Yes. After completing our course, you will be eligible to take the CCT (Certified Cardiographic Technician) and also the CRAT exams (Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician) for national certification with CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International).

We are an NHA national exam testing center. If your employer requires CCI certification, you may choose to take the exam with a CCI testing center, at your option, after completing our course.

📖 Study Online
Spend at least 10 hours reviewing the Certified EKG Technician (CET) Study Guide in your NHA account.

Most students complete 12–15 hours or more.
If you learn at a slower pace, have been away from academics for some time, or have limited English proficiency, we recommend allowing extra time for study and review to ensure you feel confident and well-prepared with the course material.

📝 Complete Practice Tests
Complete at least 4 practice tests on the NHA website.

Each test takes about 1–2 hours.
No minimum score is required, but aiming for 40%+ is a good start. Your scores should continue improving and reach around 70% or more by the 3rd and 4th practice tests.
After each test, use the “Suggested Review” feature to identify and focus on weak areas.
